Ratings: Broadcast Finals for May 7, 2013
NEW GIRL and THE MINDY PROJECT both concluded their 2012-13 seasons on Tuesday, to mixed results.
NEW GIRL had been hurt most of the season with the horrible lead in of BEN & KATE. Once it was taken of the schedule, and some story lines redirected, the sophomore series began to rebound. Drawing four million viewers and a 2.1 demo rating is a positive. It is not to the levels it was last year, but considering where it was in January, it is in better ratings health.
On the other hand, THE MINDY PROJECT continues to lose a large percentage of its lead in from NEW GIRL. Nearly 1/3 of the audience click away from FOX at 9:30 p.m. Hopefully the series will get a revamping, or else FOX will have an even bigger disaster of a season next year than it did this year, with the renewal of GLEE and the unknown factors of AMERICAN IDOL. More of the bad is not what the network needs.
Elsewhere, THE VOICE is the night's #1 program in Adults 18-49 with a 3.7 rating. Viewership and demo ratings are even from last week, stopping a recent trend downward in the ratings.
NCIS was the most watched program of the night, drawing 17.6 million viewers. The ageing, but still popular drama was down about a 700k in viewers, from last week. NCIS will again be the season's #1 drama of the year.
