Ratings: Broadcast Finals for May 14, 2013
CBS Takes first place in viewers and tied NBC for tops in the A18-49 demo. It increased its nightly average by 1/2 million viewers and 9% in the demo, from last week.
NCIS had the big jump, with its season finale, drawing an additional 1.2 million viewers and 10% in the demo. The series finished the season as the #1 show on TV. With the addition of PERSON OF INTEREST at 10 p.m. next season, CBS may be unstoppable on Tuesday nights, even against THE VOICE.
Speaking of THE VOICE, it did edge NCIS for the top demo rating of the night, but the series is down from last week, nearly 1 million viewers and 5% in the demo ratings. Instead of finishing stronger as the season nears the climatic end, THE VOICE is losing steam, coasting to the finish.
I think we see why DANCING WITH THE STARS was scaled back to just one night for next season. Despite drawing close to 12 million viewers, the dance competition series was 4th place in the hour, in the A18-49 ratings (1.8). It was just edged out for 3rd place. It was a 14% below NEW GIRL (2.1), which was the 3rd place show at 9 p.m. Its great to get 12 million viewers, but you do need a balance with a few of the demographic ratings.
