Making Sense of the NEW NBC Spring Schedule
Wednesday afternoon, NBC sent out a press release on an updated spring schedule that will have three three comedies ending in March, dramas moving to Saturdays and and a whole lot of everything else mixed in. So, lets see if we can simplify this.
Speeding up the end.
1600 PENN - Will get double up airings on March 21 & 28 (8:30 & 9:30). Season finale is March 28.
WHITNEY - Will air one original episode on March 20 (8:00) and back-to-back episodes on the 27, including the season finale at 8:30.
THE NEW NORMAL - One hour season finale will air, after THE VOICE, on April 2, at 9 p.m.
Moving to a New Day and Time:
SMASH - Will air episodes on Tuesday until April 2. Will then move to Saturdays at 9 p.m. on April 6.
GO ON - Will move to Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. for the final two episodes on April 4 & 11.
New to the Schedule:
READY FOR LOVE - Will take over the Tuesday 9 - 11 p.m. slot, starting April 9.'
HANNIBAL - Series premiere set for Thursday, April 4, at 10 p.m.
Flexing:
THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE - Will air two hour episodes March 17 & 24. One Hour episodes will air on March 31 and April 7. Then resume two hour episodes on April 14 until the finale on May 19.
DATELINE - Will air on 2 hours Sunday episopdes March 17 & 24. Then move to Wednesdays on April 3, with one hour episodes.
Encore, Encore:
THE VOICE - Will get heavy encore rotation. Starting Sunday, March 31, encores will air at least for two hours, sometime three.

Based on how they are handling this schedule, WHITNEY, 1600 PENN and THE NEW NORMAL will not be renewed. GO ON will live ir die based on those two Thursday airings.
ReplyDeleteSMASH is obviously a dead show by being sent to Saturdays.
I think the New Normal is also being tested with the post-The Voice airing for the season finale. If it does well, it's likely to get a second chance.
