Top 40 Weekly Cable Ratings: Week of 02/04/13

THE WALKING DEAD is Alive!!

Despite going directly against the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, on broadcast TV, THE WALKING DEAD set viewing records. 12.3 million viewers and a 6.1 rating in Adults 18-49. This was the strongest telecast for a series in basic cable history.

THE WALKING DEAD will have the #3 over A18-49 rating in all of television, behind The Grammys (10.1) and THE BIG BANG THEORY (6.2). This is a huge franchise that usually only attracts niche viewers, but has become a mainstream hit.

The show after TWD, TALKING DEAD also drew big ratings. The discussion show about the episode you just watched drew 4.1 million viewers and a 2.2 demo rating. A series best in both categories.

Outside of the Zombie world, it was business as usual for the cable ratings. Three doses of WWE RAW, GOLD RUSH, PAWN STARS and AMERICAN PICKERS. Falling hard was week two of THE AMERICANS on FX. It dropped over 2 million viewers and down to below the 70th position on the chart.
