Ratings Review: THE SUPER BOWL (I to LII)

(updated 02/06/2018) The Super Bowl is the biggest TV event of the year. It now draws an excess of 100 million viewers and the audience has grown each most of the 21st century. From 2005 - 2012 game, viewership has rose 31.4%. It helps that within those 8 years, we have had 6 different champions. The last three Super Bowls (50 to 52) have stagnate and leaning to a down trend in the ratings.

It really doesn't matter who is playing in the game. Weather it is two small market teams, like Super Bowl 44, or large market teams like 2012, people will watch the game, all the way through, as long as the game is close. It has been 10 years (2003) since the last blow out game happened.

Four networks have aired the Super Bowl. CBS and NBC have the most with 19 each. ABC has aired 7 Super Bowls, but are currently out of the NFL business. FOX has eight Super Bowls. Only one announcer has called the big game on each of these four networks. John Madden has a total of 11 Super Bowls, as an announcer. Five with CBS, Three with FOX, Two on ABC and just the one with NBC.
