Ratings: Broadcast Finals for February 17, 2013
A sunday with no giant football games or huge awards shows and the ratings just deflate. Not a single program was able to attract 10 million viewers or generate an A18-49 ratings above 2.5.
The season premiere of THE AMAZING RACE was on pace from last fall's edition numbers, 9.6 million viewers and a 2.4 demo rating. That is similar to the ratings SURVIVOR pulled in last Wednesday. It may be time for these two competition series to share a time slot and go down to just one addition per year.
ONCE UPON A TIME and REVENGE have recently been going up against big events with original episodes. The numbers are up from last week, versus The Grammy Awards, by about 10%. Compared to the January 20th episode, versus the AFC Championship, the are mostly even. But when you compare the numbers to the last original episodes with normal competition, like tonight, on January 13, both series are down between 10-15 percent.
NBC is just killing time on Sundays until THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE premieres on March 3rd, so obviously their numbers are really bad.
FOX did well in the A18-49 demo ratings, relative to what everything else did on the night. FAMILY GUY tied TAR for tops demo ratings and THE SIMPSONS was just one of four programs to reach the 2.0 mark, or above, in the demo ratings. Personally I think the Animation block could do better on a different night of the week and, perhaps even sperated in to one hour blocks on two different nights.
