Ratings: Broadcast Finals for January 30, 2013
After two weeks of repeats, NBC's Wednesday night line up was back with original episodes, taking advantage of ABC and CBS in repeats. The night started out bad as WHITNEY and GUYS WITH KIDS finish in fourth place for their respective time slots. GUYS WITH KIDS, you know its bad when THE NEIGHBORS can out perform you when they do not have a strong lead in (repeat of THE MIDDLE).
LAW & ORDER: SVU dropped 3 million viewers and 19% in the demo ratings from its last original out on January 9th. Even though CRIMINAL MINDS and MODERN FAMILY were in repeats, it looks as if AMERICAN IDOL was too much for it to get back to respectable numbers.
Closing the night for NBC was CHICAGO FIRE. It too drew lower numbers, generating 7.2 million viewers and a 2.1 demo rating. That is just a difference of 10% in viewers from the previous original episode. Next week will be a true test for CHICAGO FIRE as it will meet head-to-head with original episodes from both NASHVILLE and CSI for the first time since November 14.
CBS got a good response from the annual SUPER BOWL'S GREATEST COMMERCIALS special. Just under 10 million viewers tuned in to watch ADVERTISEMENTS. I am curious, if you have Dish Network's "The Hopper," and DVRed the program, did anything record??
With AMERICAN IDOL, FOX won the night in both measured categories, 15.8 million viewers and a 5.5 rating in the Adult 18-49 demographics. CBS swept second place with 7.9 million viewers and a solid 1.7 demo rating. NBC climbed up to third place with 5.7 million viewers and a 1.7 demo number. ABC, not trying hard on the night, placed fourth with just 4.6 million viewers and a 1.5 demo rating. The CW averaged a 0.9 A18-49 rating and an average audience of 2.6 million viewers.
