Ratings: Broadcast Finals for November 23, 2012
The day after Thanksgiving, most of America is full of turkey and Black Friday shopping. all they want to do is watch TV and get ready for the next holiday, Christmas. CBS delivers Christmas with four animated specials, including the classic FROSTY THE SNOWMAN. Classic FROSTY drew the night's best numbers with 6.8 million viewers and a 2.0 A18-49 demo rating. Unfortunately for CBS, the ratings only got worse from there. By the time PERSON TO PERSON aired at 10:00 p.m., they had less than 3 million viewers.
ABC aired original episodes of its two sitcoms, LAST MAN STANDING and MALIBU COUNTRY. Both programs drew ratings even with the numbers from the previous week, 6.5 -7.0 million viewers and a 1.4 demo rating.
The CW actually fared better with its holiday specials than it did with its regular series of ANTM and NAKITA. The network drew an average of 1.5 million viewers and a 0.5 demo rating. about 50% better they previous week's offerings.
FOX had its own Christmas specials, the very much lesser watched Peanuts special, HAPPINESS IS A WARM BLANKET CHARLIE BROWN (4 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating) and a repeat of THE SIMPSONS Christmas episode (2.3 million, 0.9 demo). Not far off from the KITCHEN NIGHTMARES/FRINGE lineup on normal Fridays.
NBC gave us repeat programming of a dog show and DATELINE. over the three hours, NBC averaged 4.8 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating.
