Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 7, 2012
The second Sunday of the new season looks exactly what you would think it would... Everything down from the week before as all the hype and anticipation is gone and viewers settle into their routines.
For CBS its nice to have an NFL game pump up your numbers for 60 MINUTES, but the delay really affects THE GOOD WIFE and by the delayed 10:30pm start for THE MENTALIST, most viewers just when to bed.
The MENTALIST lost 2 million viewers and a 1/2 point in the demo ratings because of THE GOOD WIFE running to 10:30. Viewers will be patient and wait the 9:00 hour until their show comes on, but they don't will not wait an extended time for the show they don't watch to be over, late. CBS needs to not schedule one of the two dramas on Sundays they have an NFL doubleheader.
ABC felt the effect of the week after premiere week. All three of their shows, from 8pm to 11pm, dropped in both categories. In total viewers, the drops were 13%, 14% and 28%, respectively, through the night. The effects were a lit . At 8p, the drop was 13%. 9pm saw a drop of 20% and at 10pm, it was also 20%.
666 PARK AVENUE is not on the chopping block with its week two performance. Under 5 million viewers and a 1.7 demo rating. Who would have thought, back in May, that THE NEIGHBORS would have a longer life on TV than 666 PARK AVENUE?
