Ratings: Broadcast Finals for October 10, 2012
We had three series premieres on Wednesday and the surprise winner was from the CW and its new superhero show ARROW.ARROW not only posted one of the largest audiences on the CW in nearly three years, it beat NBC during the 8:00 p.m. hour. The good did not stop there for the CW as SUPERNATURAL was up 36% in total viewers from its season premiere, a week earlier. it's demo ratings rose 25% from last week. The CW needs to get on the fast track and develop more shows that will attract more male viewers to the network, before there is no longer a network.
Over on ABC, the series premiere of NASHVILLE won the 10:00 p.m. hour, beatting both the veteran CSI: in the demo ratings, and the series premiere of NBC's CHICAGO FIRE in both viewers and demo rating. With 8.9 million viewers NASHVILLE bested CHICAGO FIRE by 2.3 million viewers and was almost a full ratings point better in the A18-49 ratings (2.8 vs 1.9). However, not everything was rosy with the NASHVILLE PREMIERE. It was down about 11% in viewers and 15% in the demo from last year's series premiere of REVENGE. But if the drama is decent and the country music is good, NASHVILLE should do well this season.After three good days in the ratings, NBC laid an egg on Wednesday night. not a single series managed a demo rating above a 2.0 and, as we mentioned above, it placed 5th during the 8:00 p.m.hour. CHICAGO FIRE has a long road a head of it. It it could not attract viewers initially, it may be this year's THE FIRM or AWAKE.
