Live+7 Ratings: September 24 - 30
The Live+7 ratings are in for premiere week of the 2012-13 season and, as suspected, the DVR is hitting networks even harder this season.
The usual heavy hitter are on top of the charts for the Adults 18-49 ratings. these show are averaging about a 35% gain in ratings after DVR viewing is added in. REVOLUTION was a huge gainer at 68%. #1 gain in the demo ratings was GRIM at 81%. Third was HAWAII FIVE-O at 61%.
The biggest loser was NEW GIRL. Its 4.2 rating for L+7 was below last year's L+SD ratings (4.8). It was also 33% below Year-to-year L+7 ratings (4.2 vs 6.3).
The big question the networks are still looking an answer for is "How to monetize these gains in the ratings?" Product placement is the most obvious solution, but that does not work for every product or brand.
One quick and easy way to monetize the LIVE+7 ratings, is to remove the network on screen promos and feature product promos. Instead of the network logo in the corner, place the Golden Arches of McDonald's or the Bow-Tie of Chevy. Instead of a lower third splash for Tuesday's SUBERGATORY premiere, its a 10 second graphic about the new theatrical movie to be released within the next 10 days .
