Ratings: Broadcast Finals for August 22, 2012
Wednesday night is one of the few nights that all five broadcast networks aired fresh, original content and all three hours of prime time had at least one original program airing.
Weaker, yet still on top, AMERICA'S GOT TALENT was the most watch program on Wednesday with 8.6 million viewers and a 2.3 demo rating. That edged out CBS' BIG BROTHER by just 0.2 ratings points in the 18-49 demographic. AGT would have been better off ending the season before the olympics.
OH SIT! pull in over a million viewers for the second time in three episodes. That's good for the CW, but still way off the pace from the BIG 4. However, it does show that a program thatappeals to a wider audience, will generate larger ratings.
FOX and ABC were on the low end with their originals. ABC's NY MED series finale hauled in just 4.45 million viewers and a tiny 1.0 demo rating. This is on par of how the rest of ABC's schedule has looked all summer long.
FOX veteran series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE only managed a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demo. a far cry lower than in recent years. It may take a miracle for FOX to renew the dance competition for 2013.

Wednesday was a great night for PrimeTime Anytime! I can watch all new shows airing on any of my four networks. I don’t have to pick one show over the other since I upgraded to the Hopper DVR a few months ago. Another great addition to this awesome DVR’s the ability to skip commercials. I’m so excited about the Auto Hop feature, and the ability to skip those annoying commercials. I hate having to fast forward through commercials on my primetime shows. This feature is only compatible with primetime recordings the day after they air, but since I watch primetime networks more it’s perfect. One of my coworkers at Dish showed me how Auto Hop feature works, and how it gives me the option to choose to skip commercials or not. I don’t have to worry about changing the batteries as often in my remote with this new great feature.
