VIDEO: First Look at CBS' ELEMENTARY

ELEMENTARY is a retelling of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, but set in modern day New York City. Instead of John Watson as his side kick, its now Joan Watson. As a fan of the BBC series SHERLOCK, I can't help but compare it to ELEMENTARY. By all measures SHERLOCK is a far superior series.

Watching the trailer below, It felt more like THE MENTALIST than an American version of SHERLOCK.  It is not often CBS misses on a procedural drama, but I have a bad feeling that this project may not last as long as they are hoping for.

ELEMENTARY will have ABC's SCANDAL and NBC's ROCK CENTER competing against it, so it should easily win its time period. The real measurement of success that CBS will be looking at is retention out of  PERSON OF INTEREST. If its equal or worse than what THE MENTALIST has done, its gone. I give it an 8 out of 10 to be solving cases during Valentines Day.
