POLL: How Many Viewers will watch the Season Premiere of American Idol?
The 2011 season premiere of American Idol
happens in less than two weeks. Gone are Simon, Ellen and Kara, but now you have Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez with Randy Jackson. Will the change in judges make any difference in the ratings? Will the be better or worse than last season?

3 (18%) - 25-30 Million
6 (37%) - 20-25 Million
5 (31%) - 15-20 Million
2 (12%) - Under 15 million

The trend in the ratings has been downward. The new judges will not make much of a difference, as long as they are not boring. People watch for the performances, not the judges. The judges need to be credible and on the mare with their assessments. I see about a 10% - 15% drop in the ratings from last season.
ReplyDeleteI said 25-30m for the premiere (closer to 25m). Last year's premiere was right around 30m, and I think there will be some curiosity about the judges. But by the end of the season, I would guess Fox would be delighted if it only dropped 10-15% with the loss of Cowell.
