TV Review: Hot in Cleveland

HOT IN CLEVELAND is a pleasant summer surprise. It is well cast, decently written, for a pilot and pretty funny. TV Land is already miles a head of NBC in the sitcom game.

HOT IN CLEVELAND is about three best friends from LA (hopeless romantic Melanie, cynical businesswoman Joy, aging actress Victoria) are flying to Paris when their plane makes an emergency landing in Cleveland. Realizing that the social norms from SoCal no longer apply -- and thrilled by their liberating possibilities in Ohio -- they decide to celebrate a city that values 'real women' and stay where they're considered hot.

The casting of the series is top notch. All four lead characters are great and played perfectly by the actresses. Betty White steals the show when she is on the screen, but Valerie Bertinelli is the anchor of the show. She makes the series. Her bubbly personality is perfect and for a 50 year old, she is still HOT! I can't wait for more HIC!

The only bad thing I experienced with the show was that my cable company does not yet offer TV Land in HD. C'mon Comcast, bring us more HD!!

I can see a long and successful run for HOT IN CLEVELAND. The Sitcom is my favorite genre and I expect TV LAND to build from this successful first comedy. TBS now has some cable competition in funny. NBC, Time to step up your game!
