Preliminary Ratings: Monday, 01/02/2017
THE BACHELOR leads ABC to a demographic sweep in the Monday night ratings, while CBS' comedy line up pushes it to be the most watched network of the night. Say 'Hasta la vista, baby' to THE NEW CELEBRITY APPRENTICE as it places third in its time slot.
The return of THE BACHELOR posted relatively strong demographic numbers, with 2.3 ratings in A18-34 and A35-54 demo, while it collected a 2.2 rating in Adults 18-49. The launch was new last year's premiere, except in the A25-54 demo, where it dropped 12%.
The premiere of the Arnold Schwarzenegger led THE NEW CELEBRITY APPRENTICE, did about as well as his last movie. A few people watched, but was a disappointment in its performance. Just 4.9 million viewers watched the premiere, including a 1.3 rating in Adults 18-49. The numbers will only drop from here, so it will be another tough time for NBC, on Monday nights, until THE VOICE returns in the spring. A new episode of THE WALL retained most of its lead in audience, but is down two million viewers, and 25% in the A18-49 demo, from its December 19, 2016 premiere.
CBS had a solid night with its regular line up, collecting the most viewers on the night. The demographic ratings were about average, but we could see a rise next week as viewers return after sampling THE APPRENTICE this week.
FOX gave us a celebrity filled special of MASTERCHEF, but still finished fourth on the night.
