US Box Office Results: December 30 - January 1, 2016
The 2016 box office closes out just as it began, with a STAR WARS movie on top of the box office. ROGUE ONE added another $49.5 million to its grand total of $425 million, in just three weekends of release. Look for our end-of-year 2016 Box Office chart to see how well STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE did, compared to all other 2016 movies.
Looks like the combination of Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence was not enough to entice a lot of movie goers to see PASSENGERS. The sci-fi movie only added $16 million to its total, now at just $61 million. The film will fall way short of its $110 million production budget, as it may only have about $20 to $30 million left in its box office life.
