THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Adds New TV Partner
The NFL has released that both CBS and NBC will be partners in the Thursday Night Football package. CBS and NBC will each get five games in 2016 and 2017. The NFL Network will continue to have exclusive airings of eight games. Both networks will produce the games, with their own production staffs and both will contribute to the NFL Network exclusive games.
CBS will get the first five weeks of the package, while NBC will get the second five weeks. The NFL Network will continue to air late season TNF games and Saturday night games.
Depending on how things work out with the schedule, NBC may only be adding three more TNF games to its package, as it covers the Kick-off game, on a Thursday night, and the primetime game on Thanksgiving night.
The NFL is still actively looking for an OTT partner to stream the games online.
