Ratings Review: Monday Night Football (2014)

Like most primetime games this season, ESPN's MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL saw more than its share of blowout games. Those games results in lower ratings and lower ratings hurt the bottom line.

Last year, MNF produced seven games that attracted over 14 million viewers to the game. This year, just four games managed to achieve that total. The number of games under 12 million viewers, this year, was five, the same as last year. The lack of more, bigger games, is the difference of the two seasons.

For the season, MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL averaged 13.29 million viewers and a 4.9 rating in Adults 18-49. That is down about 350,000 viewers and off by 6% in the demo, from the 2013 season. More competitive games can easily erase that deficit, in 2015.
