Ratings Review: SOUTH PARK (Season 18)

It is hard to believe that SOUTH PARK has been on TV for nearly two decades. It is still a solid performer in the ratings, especially for a cable network that struggles to draw viewers on a consistent basis, in primetime.

All but four of the episodes this season posted young demographic ratings at a 1.0, or better. That would normally place SOUTH PARK well into a top 10 ranking for Wednesday nights. Viewership is a lot better than a majority of cable series, even though it is targeted as young adults.

The one time we received Live+3 ratings, the bump in the numbers were pretty good. It added close to 50% in its total viewership and in the A18-49 ratings. I would have to assume the Live+7 numbers continue a strong trend upward and online viewing should boost the fan base even higher.

For the season, SOUTH PARK averaged 1.81 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in Adults 18-49. The series is assured to make it to 20 seasons, through 2016, with the current agreement with Comedy Central.
