Ratings Review: UNDER THE DOME (Season Two)

UNDER THE DOME was not immune to the sophomore slump. Viewership took a dive in season two, but looks to have maintained a level of fan-dome to keep the series alive for a third season.

2013's breakaway hit, UNDER THE DOME became just an above average drama. Quickly, the ratings fell below last year's average (11.19 million viewers and 2.7 rating), way below the average. I personally gave up on the series after the second episode of the season. The story was just plain bad. But, after hitting a low in early September, it rebounded and posted some of the stronger ratings of the season. It is still one of the top scripted programs of the summers.

For the season, UNDER THE DOME averaged 7.17 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in Adults 18-49. It is a 50/50 chance the series will be back for a third season. The massive drop in the ratings does give CBS reason to hesitate, but compared to most summer series, it is still doing well.
