CW Weekly Ratings: July 28 - August 1, 2014
In a week without a single episode of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANY WAY?, you would epect the CW ratings to hit rock bottom. But, with two new shows taking up the slack, the CW actually rose 9% in total viewership, week-to week.
PENN & TELLER: FOOL US hauled in the best numbers of the summer for a CW program not named WHOSE LINE. 1.8 million viewers wanted to watch magic show and PENN & TELLER are a known, marketable brand that viewers are familiar with. Although FOOL US is a three year old, British TV series, if the ratings can stay strong, I could see the CW reviving this for American TV.
Also doing well was the OTHER new magic series, MASTERS OF ILLUSIONS. Kicking of Friday night, the series premiere drew 1.1 million viewers. About 50%$ better than a repeat of REIGN and tons better then other new series like FAMOUS IN 12 and BACKPACKERS. The CW may have found a way to program Friday nights, without breaking the bank, and just a little magic.
For the week, the CW Averaged 850,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in Adults 18-49. This is the second straight week of gains in the ratings. Ad WHOSE LINE in the mix and we just might see the CW over one million viewers for the entire week.
