Ratings Review: THE GOOD WIFE (Season Five)
THE GOOD WIFE made it through five seasons. Something some people didn't think would happen. it was always considered a "bubble show" when the networks would announce their lineups for the next season. But, now after 112 episodes, the legal drama is ready to produce 22 more.THE GOOD WIFE is in the perfect position/time slot, to take advantage of the post NFL overrun, on CBS, every other Sunday. It's better numbers came with the later starts. I think it shows that this series should run at 10 p.m., instead of 9 p.m.
The LIVE+7 ratings were decent, but not great. It regularly added about 2.5 million viewers and a half a ratings point in the A18-49 ratings, with 7 days of viewing, after the initial airing of an episode. But it is not among the top programs to regularly add a lot over viewers, via the DVR.
For the season, THE GOOD WIFE averaged 8.75 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in Adults 18-49, for the 24 airings, including three encore episodes. The series is a favorite of the top CBS brass and as long as the ratings are not bad, I think we can expect the series to live on. And, you know when the end is near, it will get a season on Friday nights.
