Ratings Review: THE ORIGINALS

Right off the bat, THE ORIGINALS was a hit for the CW. It began drawing ratings that were right there with it's parent series THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, giving the network some hope for the future.

For the first two thirds of the season, THE ORIGINALS was regularly drawing between 2.0 and 2.5 million viewers per episode, along with a 1.0 in the demo ratings. It was quickly establishing itself as the best new series for the CW network. Ratings did begin to fade when the spring season hit, but it still stayed relatively strong in the ratings.

In the DVR ratings, we usually only get the A18-49 numbers, when available, and THE ORIGINALS nearly double its number after seven days of viewing data.

For the season, THE ORIGINALS averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.8 rating in Adults 18-49, for the 26 airings it had, including four repeat episodes. Next season will be a challenge for the series as it moves to a very tough Monday night slot. A night that had been one of the weakest for The cw in recent years.
