Ratings Review: SCANDAL (Season Three)

During the 2013-14 season, SCANDAL officially became one of the top dramas on TV. It is just one of two 10 p.m. shows that can draw an A18-49 ratings in the 3.0 neighborhood. Perhaps next season, ABC will order 22 to 24 episodes, instead of the 18 from this season.

SCANDAL also surged by GREY'S ANATOMY, often out performing the aged medical drama in both total viewers and demographic ratings. The power of SCANDAL is also felt in late night. After it's season finale, on April 17th, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE had a special SCANDAL episode. KIMMEL was the top late night show of that night, besting THE TONIGHT SHOW.

For the season, SCANDAL averaged 8.44 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in Adults 18-49, for the 20 airings, including 2 encore episodes.2014-15 looks to be a big season for SCANDAL. Can it continue it's surge and grow to an elite series, or will it start to falter, becoming stale to viewers?
