Ratings Review: THE ASSETS (Season One)

The limited run series THE ASSETS was quickly cancelled by ABC after just two episodes. Thee two episodes averaged less than 3.5 million viewers. The premiere episode was the lowest rated ever by a drama.

The series was originally to run eight episode and was based on the book CIRCLE OF TREASON: A CIA ACCOUNT OF TRAITOR ALDRICH AMES AND THE MEN HE BETRAYED. What may have hurt the series was it's 1980's back drop and eight hour run. Perhaps a two part, four hour mini-series would have been more appealing to audiences than devoting eight weeks to the story.
