Ratings Review: UNDER THE DOME

No one expected the hot new scripted drama, that was not a crime show, to come from CBS. I know when I first heard of the project, I thought it would do modest numbers, at best. Just enough to keep the time slot warm for the fall season. But from the start, UNDER THE DOME was a hit.

Over 13.5 million viewers watched the premiere. It was the best numbers of the series, but for most of the 13 episode run, it would stay within that range. Only once did viewership fall below 10 million. A solid performance when you consider that you could watch episodes on Amazon Prime, at anytime after five days of the initial CBS airing.

For the summer season, UNDER THE DOME averaged 11.19 million viewers and 2.7 rating in Adults 18-49. CBS has already renewed the series for a second season for the summer of 2014. Hopefully, the writing does get better then the first season and they not take obvious TV movie plot twist. They have a real chance of doing something great with a large audience watching.
