Ratings Review: AMERICAN IDOL (2013)

My, how the mighty have fallen! The once dominate program on TV quickly fell to earth, becoming just another TV series, in the ratings.

AMERICAN IDOL had already been slipping in the ratings the last few seasons, but it was still a force to be wreaken with. Over the course of the 2013 season. not only was AMERICAN IDOL not a #1 series, it had many night it was not the #1 show in its time slot. From the premiere episode of the season to the last wednesday episode, the series lost 50% of its A18-49 audience. Viewership fell roughly 6.5 million viewers. The audience did not like what FOX was delivering it.

Over the course of its 36 airings, AMERICAN IDOL averaged 13.09 million viewers and a 3.7 rating in Adults 18-49. It still finished the season as a top 10 program (#9). We will see if FOX can turn things around with new judges and, perhaps, a new attitude for 2014.
