Ratings Review: LAST MAN STANDING
After 2 BROKE GIRLS, LAST MAN STANDING was the only other comedy to truly be called a hit this past season. t had a very strong debut in October, but as the spring arrived, it fallen to average ratings.
Trough October and November, LAST MAN STANDING was pulling in between 9 to 10 million viewers each week, with a solid 2.7 demo rating. When the new year arrived, the numbers slipped down to between 7 and 8 million viewers for new episodes and a mid two in the demo ratings. This is not too sprprising as some show do start to loose viewers as the spring approaches.
Oddly enough, when the spring did hit, which was the same time COUGAR TOWN began airing behind it, the viewership dropped again. Now, it was only pulling six to seven million viewers and below a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That is about half of what it pulled for it's series premiere.
It is hard to point the finger at COUGAR TOWN for its drop in spring viewership, but even with WORK IT and MAN UP, LMS could still pull in great numbers for ABC. Perhaps enough was enough for viewers and tired of switching channles at 8:30, so they found a new program for the 8:00pm hour.
But all is good for LMS. It moves to a new day, Fridays at 8:00pm, and will have a very compatible comedy following in in MALIBU COUNTRY. If the numbers can stay stead at arounf 8-9 million, LMS should see a long rn on ABC.
