2019 Commercial Cost Survey
Ad Age has released its 2018 Commercial Cost Survey, showing the per average price for advertisers on a 30 second spot for each regular broadcast TV series. Returning shows also include their 2017 cost and the percentage of change between the two seasons.Once again, Football dominates the top of the chart, grabbing the three tops spots between the FOX Sunday afternoon game, NBC's Sunday Night Football and FOX's Thursday Night Football. TNF is getting over $540k per spot, while the Sunday games approach $690k per spot.
THIS IS US is the #1 series, but saw a significant 17% drop from last year's commercial cost.
Now in its second season, the MASK SINGER makes its debut on the chart, in the #5 slot, and commands over $200,000 for each commercial.
The biggest year-to-year gains, by percentages, is NEW AMSTERDAM, which jumped 33%, adding about $43,000 per spot. CBS's sophomore sitcom, THE NEIGHBORHOOD< was right behind with a 32% jump.
ABC's comedy, AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, had the biggest yearly loss, at 39%, going from well over $120,000 per commercial spot, to under $75,000. NBC's GOOD GIRLS dramedy is getting 37% percent less in year three, than it did in year two.
