NBC Weekly Ratings Release: June 17 - 23, 2019

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — June 25, 2019 — NBC has tied for #1 for the primetime ratings week of June 17-23 in total viewers, according to “live plus same day” viewership figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC also ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos “America’s Got Talent” is the #1 telecast of the week in adults 18-49 and total viewers, and is joined among the week’s top programs in 18-49 by Monday’s “American Ninja Warrior” and Tuesday’s “Songland” (tied for #4).

“Talent” has been the #1 entertainment telecast of the week in 18-49 and total viewers every week so far this summer.

Overall for the week, NBC averaged 3.669 million viewers, tying it with CBS’ 3.669 million.

Season to date, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tie), women 18-34 (tie), women 18-49 and women 25-54. In total viewers, excluding sports, NBC is running within 1.350 million persons of #1 CBS, NBC’s closest position to #1 in total viewers at this point in the season, excluding sports, in 16 years, since trailing by 674,000 persons at this time in 2002-03.

Weekly ratings are “live plus same day” figures from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date ratings are averages of “live plus seven day” data except for the two most recent weeks, which are “live plus same day.”

NBC highlights for the week of June 17-23:

Monday
“American Ninja Warrior” (0.9 rating in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) maintained 100% versus its prior original in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.9 on Wednesday, June 5 from 8-10 p.m.) and increased by +10% in total viewers (4.8 million vs. 4.4 million). Versus the year-ago Monday premiere, “Ninja” was up +12% in total viewers (4.8 million vs. 4.3 million on June 18, 2018 from 9-11 p.m.) and finished within 0.1 in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 1.0).

“Live Plus Seven Day Plus Digital” Ratings: Within just seven days, across linear and digital platforms, “American Ninja Warrior” has been growing this summer by +44% in adults 18-49 and +1.3 million viewers overall versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens to a 1.36 rating in 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall.

“Dateline NBC” (0.7 rating in adults 18-49, 1.0 in adults 25-54, 4.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew +17% week to week in adults 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.6), +25 in adults 25-54 (1.0 vs. 0.8) and +20% in total viewers (4.0 million vs. 3.3 million). “Dateline” tied for #1 in the timeslot in adults 18-49 with ABC’s series premiere of “Grand Hotel” and ranked #1 outright ahead of “Grand Hotel” in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

Tuesday
NBC won Tuesday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and every other key measure.

“America’s Got Talent” (1.6 rating in 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) set a new season high in total viewers and equaled its high 18-49 rating since the show’s May 28 season premiere. Week to week, “Talent” grew +7% in 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.5) and +6% in total viewers (10.0 million vs. 9.5 million). “AGT” was the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and every other key measure. L+7+Digital: Within seven days, across linear and digital platforms, “America’s Got Talent” is adding +78% in adults 18-49 and +4.1 million viewers overall versus next-day “live plus same day” results, rising to a 2.94 rating in 18-49 and 13.9 million viewers overall.

“Songland” (0.9 rating in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% week to week in 18-49 (1.0 vs. 0.9) and grew +9% in total viewers (4.531 million vs. 4.155 million), to deliver its most-watched episode since the show’s season premiere on May 28 (5.5 million). “Songland” ranked #1 in the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and every other key demographic. L+7+Digital: Within just seven days on linear and non-linear platforms, “Songland” has grown by +52% in adults 18-49 and +1.7 million viewers overall versus next-day “live plus same day” averages, increasing to a 1.62 rating in 18-49 and 6.7 million viewers overall.

Wednesday
An encore telecast of “Ellen’s Game of Games” averaged a 0.5 rating in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET.

A second rebroadcast of “Ellen’s Game of Games” (0.7 rating in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of the timeslot lead in 18-49 and beat original competition from Fox’s “First Responders Live” and CBS’ “NCIS: The Cases They Can’t Forget.” The 9 p.m. “Games” built on the prior hour’s encore by +40% in adults 18-49. “The InBetween” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers, and is #2 or tied for #2 in all other key measures. L+7+Digital: After seven days of linear and digital delayed viewing, “The InBetween” is doubling in adults 18-49 and growing by +2.2 million viewers overall versus its next-day “live plus same day” results, increasing to a 1.04 rating in 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall.

Thursday
An encore telecast of “The Wall” averaged a 0.5 rating in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET), combing with the episode’s Feb. 5, 2018 original (6.7 million) for a total of more than 9.8 million viewers.

Rebroadcasts of “Law & Order: SVU” delivered a 0.3 rating in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET and a 0.4 rating in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET). The second “SVU” encore pulled into a tie for #1 in the 10:30-11 p.m. half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adult 18-49 and adults 25-54, knotted with ABC’s series premiere of “Reef Break.”

Friday
NBC tied as the #1 network among the Big 4 Friday night in adults 18-49.

An encore telecast of “American Ninja Warrior” (0.5 rating in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) ranked #1 in the two-hour timeslot among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and tied as the #2 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, while delivering the show’s highest total-viewer results among three Friday encores so far this season.

“Dateline NBC” (0.6 rating in 18-49, 0.8 in adults 25-54, 3.4 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. L+7: Through the traditional September-to-May season, Friday’s “Dateline” grew by +51% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.57 to a 0.86) and more than +1.2 million viewers overall (3.5 million to 4.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday
NBC ranked as Saturday’s #1 non-sports network among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

An encore telecast of “Songland” (0.3 rating in 18-49, 1.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew versus the previous week’s encore in this slot by +0.1 of a rating point in 18-49 and by +21% in total viewers (1.3 million vs. 1.1 million).

"Dateline Saturday Night Mystery” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 0.6 in 25-54, 2.8 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) finished as the #1 primetime non-sports telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

Sunday
A rebroadcast of “Hollywood Game Night” (0.3 rating in 18-49, 1.8 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) grew+19% versus the previous week’s encore in this timeslot in total viewers (1.8 million vs. 1.5 million).

An encore telecast of “America’s Got Talent” (0.6 rating in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) increased by +6% versus the prior week’s encore in this timeslot in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 3.2 million) and retained 100% in 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.6), despite competition this week from the ABC special “Highwire Live in Times Square with Nik Wallenda.” From its first half-hour to its fourth, the “AGT” encore increased by +75% in 18-49 (0.4 to 0.7) and +1.4 million persons or +54% in total viewers (2.6 million vs. 4.0 million).

A rebroadcast of “New Amsterdam” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) increased by +33% or +0.1 of a rating point versus the previous week’s rebroadcast in this time period in adults 18-49 (0.4 vs. 0.3), to top this week’s first-run “The Good Fight” in the timeslot in 18-49 (0.4 vs. 0.3).
