US Box Office Results: March 22 - 24, 2019

Jordan Peele's new thriller, US, debuted at #1 in the domestic box office, taking $70 million in its first three days of release, more than tripling the film's production budget of $20 million. US becomes the third best opening for an R-rated horror film, behind last year's HALLOWEEN ($76 million) and 2017's IT ($123 million).

Previous #1 film, CAPTAIN MARVEL, dropped to second place, with a $35 million take in its third weekend out in theaters. The Marvel production has now grossed over $321 million, domestically, currently ranking it 10th in the MCU list of films. Momnentum should push CAPTAIN MARVEL to $400 million and challenging CPATAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and IRON MAN 3, to reach the top five of the MCU.
