US Box Office Results: February 22 - 24, 2019
For the fourth week in a row, a different movie is on top of the weekend box office chart. The third film of the HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON grossed $55.5 million in its first three days, grabbing more than three-times the box office as the #2 film, ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL. For DRAGON, is is the best opening of the franchise, topping the 2014 movie by $6 million and the first movie, from 2010, by $12 million.
Also new in theaters, the christian RUN THE RACE opened with just $2.3 million, ranking 10th on the chart, but was in less than 900 screens. It had the fifth best per screen average, topping THE LEGO MOVIE 2 and ISN'T IT ROMANTIC, which were each in over 3,000 theaters.
The Indian-Hindi language comedy, TOTAL DHAMAAL only took in $950,000 in its first weekend of domestic release, but in just over 200 theaters, it had the second best per screen average at over $4,700.
