US Box Office Results: November 9 - 11, 2018
The new animated DR. SEUSS' THE GRINCH topped this weekend's box office scoring $66 million in its first weekend of release. The impact of the new film is a little less than that of the 2000 Live action adaptation, starring Jim Carrey, which scored $55 million in its opening weekend.
WWI Horror film, OVERLOARD, came in a disappointing third, grossing just over $10 million, in its first three days of release. Perhaps Veterans Day weekend and the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, was not the right weekend to release this type of movie?
Also disappointing, THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB, took in just eight million dollars and ranked sixth on the chart, while running in nearly 3000 theaters.
