Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 10/16/2018
Lets kick of the post with a look at the ABC Tuesday night premieres. Starting things off, at 8 PM, is the retooled sitcom, THE CONNERS, which attracted 10.5 million viewers and posted a 2.3 rating in Adults 18-49. That is down, slightly, from the season finale, back in May, when the comedy was ROSEANNE and included Roseanne Barr in the cast.
New comedy, THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (6.6 million viewers, 1.4 demo) dropped nearly 40% of its CONNERS lead in, in total viewers and demographic ratings. BLACK-ISH (4.5 million viewers, 1.1 demo) anchors the 9 PM hour, dropping another 30% in viewers and 20% in the demo. Returning sitcom, SPLITTING UP TOGETHER (3.7 million viewers, 1.0 demo) continues the downward trend, retaining 82% in viewers and 90% in the demo. New crime drama, THE ROOKIE did grow its lead in viewership by 46% and held all of its A18-49 demographic rating. It was second in the 10 PM hour.
NBC's night went well as the voice kicked thing off with 8.8 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in the A18-49 demo, for THE VOICE. THIS IS US grew viewership to 8.9 million, but jumped the A18-49 rating by a half a point, to a 2.2 rating. Medical drama, NEW AMSTERDAM closed the night with 6.4 million viewers and a 1.2 demo rating, winning the 10 PM hour.
CBS had two of the three most watched shows of the night, with NCIS at #1, with 11.7 million viewers, along with a 1.2 demographic rating. FBI, #3 in viewership, retained 9.4 million viewers and 83% in the demo. NCIS: NEW ORLEANS was the most watched in the 10 PM hour, with 7.4 million viewers, but was last in two of the three demographic categories, including its 0.8 rating in Adults 18-49.
THE GIFTED continues its struggles, for FOX, losing to the CW in the 8 PM hour. The sophomore series fell below two million viewers and posted a 0.6 rating in Adults 18-49. LETHAL WEAPON grew viewershipo by one million viewers (50%) and the demo by a tenth of a point.
Over on The CW, THE FLASH collects 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in Adults 18-49 and a 0.5 rating in Adults 18-34. BLACK LIGHTNING ratings about 60% of its lead in.
