Preliminary Ratings: Thursday 09/27/2018
FOX takes the Thursday night ratings, with its first THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game, which attracted 10.1 million total viewers and a 3.3 rating in Adults 18-49. A surprisingly low number considering the high scoring, close game the network had on the night.
ABC was second, lead by a two-hour GREY'S ANATOMY. The long running medical drama, collected 6.8 million viewers and a 1.8 rating in Adults 18-49, third in the 8 PM hour, rising to second at 9 PM. HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER was soft at 10 PM, barely topping SWAT in the A18-49 demo, but drawing just three million viewers, two million behind the CBS drama.
CBS was an unusual third place, posting just a 1.3 demo on the night. It was #2 in total viewers, averaging 8.4 million. THE BIG BANG THEORY, now in its regular time slot, was the most watched show of the night, drawing 11.7 million viewers, but posting just a 2.1 demo. YOUNG SHELDON dropped a half a point in the demo, from its lead in, and 1.6 million total viewers. MOM and the return of MURPHY BROWN drop the network to third place, for the 9 PM hour. MURPHY's return was really soft, with just 7.4 million viewers tuning in.
NBC was a distant 4th place. A one-hour THE GOOD PLACE was nearly a full point behind third place ABC, in the 8 PM hour. A two-hour LAW & ORDER: SVU salvaged a little, winning the 10 PM hour, after starting off in fourth at 9 PM.
