US Box Office Results: July 20 - 22, 2018
THE EQUALIZER 2 was the top movie for the week of July 20-22, grossing $35.8 million in its first three days of release. The Denzel Washington sequel bested its 2014 original by $1.7 million, from its opening weekend results.
Another sequel MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN! brought in $34.4 million in its first weekend of release, to grab the #2 spot on the chart. Although ten years separate the first and second movies, MM2 collected under seven million dollars more than its first movie.
Sequels also take the next four spots, including INCREDIBLES 2 (#5), which has now grossed over $557 million, domestically, putting it comfortably in the #2 spot on the year and #9 on the all-time list.
