US Box Office Results: March 23 - 25, 2018

PACIFIC RIM UPRISING dethrones BLACK PANTHER as the #1 movie in America, hauling in $28 million in its first weekend of release. The sequel to the 2013 original, grossed $9 million less, despite being in 500 more theaters.

Last week's surprise #3 movie, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, stayed at #3, adding $13.9 million, bringing its 10-day total to $38.3 million. Not bad for a movie that cost $7 million to make. The movie was also #2 in its per screen average, at $6,142, about $1,400 behind PACIFIC RIM.

Staying on Christian movies, PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST, grossed $5 million its its first weekend of release, matching its production budget. The film played in just 1,475 theaters, the least by any of the top 12 movies of the weekend, and had a $3,394 per screen average, ranking 3rd for the weekend.
