Preliminary Ratings: Monday 10/16/2017
ABC and NBC split Monday night leadership, with ABC grabbing the most viewers and posting the better A18-34 rating, while NBC edges ABC in the two older age groups.
ABC has a solid hit series in THE GOOD DOCTOR. In its fourth airing, the medical drama is pulling in 10.9 million viewers and a 2.1 rating in Adults 18-49. Since the series premiere, THE GOOD DOCTOR is only down 300,000 viewers and just 5% in the 18-49 demo.
NBC's success is on the back of THE VOICE, which hauled in 10.1 million viewers and a 2.3 demo rating. It's 4 week erosion is 12% in the A18-49 demo and 500k in total viewers. New drama, THE BRAVE is still not taking hold, losing nearly 60% in the demographic ratings from its lad in, but has stabilized at just above five million viewers and a one in the A18-49 age group.
Outside of THE BIG BANG THEORY, the CBS comedies are not energizing viewers. A 50% drop at 8:30 does not help the rest of the night, which becomes just one-third the levels, at 10 PM, than it was at 8 PM.
Fourth place FOX is relatively solid, staying competitive with CBS on the night. THE GIFTED saw numbers rice, week-to-week, while its lead in, LUCIFER, saw declines from last week.
Week two of THE CW line up and VALOR is already in trouble, in danger of dropping below one million viewers and already at just a 0.2 rating in Adults 18-49. The CW will not cancel the series before its episode order has been completed, but its does not look as if it will be renewed beyond the initial 13 episodes.
