Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 09/27/2017
It was a full night of premieres, excluding The CW, and FOX comes out on top with it combo of EMPIRE and STAR. The network had a 25% advantage over CBS and ABC in the A18-49 demographic and doubled up the two networks in the younger, A18-34 demo. EMPIRE is no long a "mega" hit show, as it is down four million viewers and over 40% in the A18-49 demo, from last fall's premiere.
CBS takes second place, with solid performances from its three series. SURVIVOR was #2 in the 8 PM hour, with a 1.7 demo rating, but was the most watched in the hour. New action drama, SEAL TEAM grew total viewership by 1.6 million total viewers, and held onto 90% of its A18-49 audience, out of SURVIVOR. Long running veteran crime drama, CRIMINAL MINDS, did win the 10 PM hour, losing only 15% of the demo, from its lead in.
The ABC comedies did produce decent numbers, with SPEECHLESS charting the low point of the two-hour block, despite being sandwiched between the two BIG guns. DESIGNATED SURVIVOR was third in the 10 PM hour, tying THE BLACKLIST with the lowest A18-49 rating, from the BIG 4 networks.
NBC was a close fourth place on the night, with the three crime dramas producing similar numbers. THE BALCKLIST was the most watched NBC show, with 6.2 million viewers, but was the lowest rated in the demos. LAW & ORDER: SVU did the best in the demos, for the network, but was the least watched.
