US Box Office Results: June 23 - 25, 2017
The fifth TRANSFORMERS Movie could very well be the last one of the franchise, as THE LAST KNIGHT brought in just $45.3 million in, its first weekend of release. It brought in $55 million less than the previous movie, in 2014, and $25 million less than the first movie, out tear years ago. The movie will fall far short of its $217 production budget, as it will struggle to bring in $125 million, domestically. If a sixth movie is ever made, it will be on the strength of the international markets, which is approaching $200 million in receipts.
WONDER WOMAN is still going strong, tying CARS 3 for the #2 spot, with $25.2 million, despite bing out two weeks longer than the Pixar release. To date, WW had grosse over $318 million domestically (currently #3 on the year), and a little more than that, internationally. WONDER WOMAN should pass both SUICIDE SQUAD and BATMAN v SUPERMAN this week, ranking #3 of all DC Movies, behind the last two DARK KNIGHT movies.
