Final Broadcast Ratings: May 17, 2017
The Big four networks were bunched up on Wednesday night, with FOX having the slight advantage in the three demographic categories and CBS with the most viewers.
The series finale of CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYON BORDERS showed exactly why it was axed after two seasons, as it drew the lowest numbers of the night, from the Big 4, and dropped 60% of the A18-49 demo from its SURVIVOR lead in. With two hours of BEYOND BORDERS, it surprising CBS was as competitive as it was.
EMPIRE carried the night for FOX, posting the best demographic ratings of the night, but SHOTS FIRED drug the average down a third from EMPIRES numbers. Again, anther cancelled series showing us exactly why it is not coming back.
ABC was fairly consistent on the night as it had four finales and one premiere, to pus it to a second place finish. the new comedy, DOWNWARD DOG did drop 35% in the demo from its MODERN FAMILY lead in, and 44% in the younger A18-34 demo.
NBC closed the season on two if its shows, with LAW & ORDER still haing remaining episodes to air. CHICAGO FIRE won the 10 PM time slot, with 6.5 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in Adults 18-49.
