US Box Office Results: April 7 - 9, 2017
THE BOSS BABY repeats as the #1 movie of the weekend, hauling in an additional $26.3 million, for a total 10-day take of $89.3 million. That currently puts it within the top 10 of the year, with JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO (#8) within striking distance.
The new SMURFS movie, THE LAST VILLAGE, was the top new release, collecting $14 million and topping GOING IN STYLE. For the SMURFS, its is the wort opening weekend of the three movies, falling about $3.5 million behind the previous movie, in 2013.
The christian movie, THE CASE FOR CHRIST, had a modest opening, with $3.9 million, ranking 10th overall. Of the top 10 movies, it was in the least number of theaters, just under 1,200, but was 5th in average per screen, at $3,300.
