US Box Office Results: January 13 - 15, 2017
HIDDEN FIGURES rises to the #1 spot, bringing in $20.5 million in its second weekend of wide release. The period drama only lost 10.3% from last week, while adding over 800 screens. HIDDEN FIGURES has more than doubled its production budget, with a total domestic take of just under $59 million.
There were four new movies out in wide release this weekend, and all four had disappointed openings. Horror film, BYE BYE MAN, performed the best, taking in $13.4 million, nearly double its production budget. PATRIOTS DAY, starring Mark Wahlberg, was sixth on the weekend, at just $12 million. Family movie, MONSTER TRUCKS, was right behind at $10.5 million. And lastly, The latest Jamie Foxx movie, SLEEPLESS, only grosses $8.5 million, but was in the least amount of screens (1,803) than any other top 10 film.
After five week,s ROGUE ONE, is just short of $500 million domestically and not far from One Billion Dollars, worldwide.
