Final Broadcast Ratings: January 25, 2017
It was a three way race in the ratings, Wednesday night, with CBS grabbing the most viewers, FOX grabbing more A18-34 viewers, ABC scoring better with the A25-53 demo and FOX and ABC tying in the A18-49 demo. NBC was all encore, ranking fourth on the night, while The CW stays in fifth.
ABC had the top rated program of the evening, as ABC News scored the first interview with President Trump. The 10 PM special hauled in 7.5 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in Adults 18-49. That was good enough to off-set the comedy encores for a share of the nightly win.
CBS got decent numbers from two hours of the new reality series, HUNTED. From 8 to 10 PM, 5.5 million viewers tuned in, including a 1.3 rating in the A18-49 demo. The demographic ratings improved over last week's UNDERCOVER BOSS finale, 14% in the A18-34 demo, 18% in the A18-49 demo and 20% in the A25-54 demo. CODE BLACK struggled to beat an encore of CHICAGO PD, in the 10 PMN hour.
FOX's success on the night came from LETHAL WEAPON and not the EMPIRE spin-off, STAR. LETHAL WEAPON was #1 in the 8 PM hour, taking three of the four categories, outright. STAR continues to fall , dropping a tenth in its strongest demographic, the A18-34 age group.
The finale of the CW series, FREQUENCY, went out with a whimper, losing more than half of its lead in audience from the Winter Premiere of ARROW. You would think this may be the last we see of the series, but CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND is coming back as the lowest rated series on the CW.
