Complete Nielsen Ratings: Dec. 26, 2016 - Jan. 1, 2017
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #99:
Reruns, football, specials and Sunday premieres describe this past week in the network ratings. Monday through Friday, it was mostly encores, with a couple of specials, filled the schedule for all five networks. But, once the weekend arrived, ABC and NBC saw their numbers shoot up.
For ABC, three hours of primetime coverage of DICK CLARK'S NEW YEAR'S ROCKIN EVE drew over 6.6 million viewers from 8 to 10 PM, and 11.6 million from 10 to 11 PM. The dropping of the ball at Times Square drew well over 20 million viewers for ABC, at midnight.
On NBC, its NYE coverage was better than an average Saturday night, but it was SUNDAY NOGHT FOOTBALL that helped it win the week. The Packers vs Lions game ends up being the second most watched Sunday Night game, excluding the Thursday night season opener, of the season, with 23.8 million viewers. Four of its five top 25 shows were the game and the pregame shows that proceeded it.
CBS and FOX limped though the week. CBS does have a strong showing of its encores that helped it tie NBC in households and be right there in total viewership, but the demo number hurt the network. FOX's best numbers came from NFL overrun on Sunday evening, followed by the premiere of the new comedy, THE MICK.
For the CW, every single hour of the wee was repeats, except for burn-off of NO TOMORROW (which ranked it last on the week), on Tuesday night.
