US Box Office Results: December 23 - 26, 2016
The four day, Christmas weekend saw ROGUE ONE continue as the #1 movie in the country, adding an additional $96 million to its domestic take, bringing its 11-day total to $318 million. The STAR WARS movie has a chance to rank second on the year, if it can add another $100 million over the next six days. Worldwide, ROGUE ONE has grossed over $555 million.
The new animated movie, SING, brought in $56 million on the weekend and a total of $76 million since its Wednesday release. In a year with huge performances form many animated movies, SING rankes about 8th on the year.
Three other new releases ranked below SING, PASSENGERS grossed just $23 million. The comedy, WHY HIM just under $17 million and the action movie, ASSASSIN'S CREED at just $15 million.
