Complete Nielsen Ratings: December 19 - 25, 2016
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #95:
NBC dominated the week before Christmas, thanks to most of the other networks in encores and NBC having two strong NFL games. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL tops the chart with over 21.4 million viewers and a 6.4 rating in Adults 18-49. The final THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game on NBC, hauled in just under 18 million viewers and a 5.1 demo rating, for the #2 spot. The next three spots on the chart are NFL related, pre-game programming for NBC. NBC also saw good numbers for the AMERICA'S GOT TALENT (#7) holiday special, collecting 9.5 million viewers, the TONY BENNET CELEBRATES 90 YEARS (#13), with 6.7 million, and the premiere of the new game show, THE WALL (#14) drew 6.5 million viewers. In total, NBC pushed 12 programs into the top 30.
CBS had a few original programs for the week, including its Monday night line up. The Oprah Winfrey special on the First Lady, Michelle Obama, was little flat, bringing in just 4.7 million viewers. But, the MAN WITH A PLAN (#16) and 2 BROKE GIRLS (#25) rebounded despite the poor lead in. CBS did place 14 programs in the top 30, eight of which were encore airings.
ABC and FOX did little to attract big viewership, as the two networks combined for just four shows in the top 30. ABC's best showing was the classic Christmas special, A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS (#19), which drew 5.5 million viewers. FOX's only top 40 showing was a UFC bout, on Saturday night, which ranked 30th, with 4.7 million viewers.
