Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 10/05/2016
EMPIRE continues to lead FOX to a nightly win on Wednesday nights, as the drama scores the most viewers, 9.2 million, and the night's best demographic ratings, including a 2.7 in Adults 18-34. The numbers are down week-to-week, but everyone on the night is experiencing the same thing. Earlier, LETHAL WEAPON competes for the top spot in the hour, with ABC and CBS.
The CW premiered its Wednesday night line up, with ARROW leading the way, at 8 PM, with 1.9 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in Adults 18-49. Last year's premiere had viewership at 2.7 million viewers and the demo at a 1.1 rating. The new series, FREQUENCY, did not spark interest, posting lower numbers than Tuesday night's NO TOMORROW premiere.
ABC's comedies keep the network in second place, above CBS, especially at 9 PM, where MODERN FAMILY and BLACK-ISH top CRIMINAL MINDS. DESIGNATED SURVIVOR wins the 10 PM hour, but drops 900,000 viewers from the previous week.
CRIMINAL MINDS is off by 25% in the A18-49 demo, from last week's premiere. CODE BLACK posts the night's lowest A18-34 demo rating, from a Big 4 Network, with a 0.7 rating.
NBC keeps close, but still ends the night in 4th place. LAW & ORDER and CHICAGO PD drop to BLINDSPOT levels, making a very consistent night in the ratings.
