The Vice Presidential Debate aired on Tuesday night, preempting the Big 4 networks from 9 to 11 PM. Combines, the attracted roughly 20 million viewers and a 4.6 rating in the A18-49 demo. The 90+ minutes of the debate will not be factored into the averages of the networks. That left just 90, or so, minutes of commercial programming to be factored in.
NBC topped the night, posting the top demo numbers for THE VOICE, its debate coverage and post-debate analysis. CBS did have the most watched program of the night, with NCIS winning the hour in viewers and the A25-54 demographic. CBS topped ABC in viewers from 9 to 11 PM, but ABC had the slight edge in the younger demos. FOX was a distant 4th place, with the two comedies doing little to compete and being a weak lead in to the debate.
The CW finally began rolling out its new season, with the season premiere of THE FLASH and series premiere of NO TOMORROW. THE FLASH was #2 on the night in the A18-34 demographic, with a 1.1 rating, after THE VOICE. A total of 3.2 million viewers tuned into the third season opener, down about 400,000 viewers from last year. NO TOMORROW 's debut was a bit soft, losing half the audience from THE FLASH and nearly 60% of the A18-49 audience. Last year, iZOMBIE drew less viewers, but did better in the demos.
